However, the benefits are not as clear cut, because I imagine for a long while, there will be many more options for OE. If you're not as obsessive as I am, go for SSE as it's probably a better choice in the long run.

But I do get mad when all people do is suggest "use a load order tool" like an over prescribed medication to solve every problem anyone encounters with Skyrim modding.Įither way, both options are going to be an upgrade from console. And before people lose their minds, I do use an actual mod manager now on the new computer because it doesn't hurt to have one for convenience. That is, having to load an older save before loading into the new save to start up 90% of the time but I literally have no other issues I can't solve on my own. I obviously don't recommend doing that, but hey, my Skyrim Original edition runs just about as stable as it did on my older computer. Then I copied and pasted the entire game into my new computer (it fucking worked somehow) because I had such a delicate setup I wasn't willing to see it go and restart from scratch. Your own judgement and experience is typically better than technology. In short, load order sorting tools created more issues for me than fixed them. I also never used load order sorting tools, because for me, those things are a goddamn lie and require you to do more work to fix them than manually sorting it logically on your own with the help of google. I put in a lot of semi-conflicting mods, made them work, all without a mod manager with no major glitches. You have a lot more options but by god, the original edition essentially taught me how to troubleshoot computers and fix issues on my own. I can't speak for stability for SSE but I will say that working with the original edition is like tuning up an old antique car. This might change with time but I can't imagine how much more Todd Howard will be milking this cash cow and how much the general population of Skyrim players will be sticking with Skyrim. On top of the fact that Original has a lot more mods built for it. I make my own tweaks and the like and the lack of SKSE is a dealbreaker. That being said, I'm sort of a niche user who uses very specific versions of certain files, on top of them needing SKSE. Creation Club isn't required for SSE modding, in other words.Īs for choosing between SSE and OE (original edition), I'm pretty much a die hard original user. I don't know the deal on this subreddit's stance on creation club but I'm 10000% Nexus Mods or anything else that hasn't had Bethesda touching content.
